Eyes open,
transfixed on nothing,
absent and hysterical,
I thought about It.
My hands hesitated
to reached out,
just so I would feel my numbness.
I groped the high medium heavens,
and my finger grabbed
the AAA powered remote control.
Hyped up, I pressed the One button
with envy and desire,
to take a third picture,
of the live televised world.
She came on, bloody,
mishandled,
and politically correct,
with makeup and savvy,
superficial, ignorant,
and queer as the doldrums.
I saw them sell monkeys,
to lost papaya dwellers,
fourwheel drives
to ocean faring Catamarans
Confusing mayhem with Mecca,
and Jerusalem with Barbados.
They mimed mined gems
with a handful of ass gerbils,
and spotted night owls
with fortune readers.
Bystanders watched in disbelief,
and indulged in cheese cakes,
artery clogging spirits
and, wondered when peace
would ever come to this world.
I saw them squander many a thought
prostitute many a dignity,
disorient many a life,
and smile to the Catameraman.
At the ocean, a needle
was lost, and they found it
in a haystack,
The remote control,
lost its sanity between
a wide ass, and my lazyboy.
Said Leghlid, 2003.
